The interdisciplinary summer school The Nature of Entropy II – Arrow of Time is targeted at excellent graduate students and young researchers interested in the foundations of physics. A background in physics, mathematics, or philosophy is advantageous.
All participants are selected by the scientific committee. The number of participants is limited. Attendance of previous summer school (The Nature of Entropy I) is not required for a successful application.
Participation fee
The participation fee is € 450.
The fee covers accommodation (5 nights) in a double room at the conference hotel with full board. See Practical Information for more details.
Registration is only completed after a timely payment of the fee.
Scholarship: Thanks to the Volkswagen Foundation, we can offer a limited number of stipends to cover the participation fee for students who couldn’t otherwise afford it. Travel expenses can’t be reimbursed. If you want to apply for a scholarship, mark the checkbox below the application form and explain in your message why you can not obtain funding from other sources.
How to apply
To apply for the summer school, use the application form below. In your message, please state briefly your motivation and relevant work you’ve done related to the subject of the summer school. A full CV or publication list is not required.
Student presentations: If you want to present a paper or part of your dissertation at the summer school, mark the corresponding checkbox below the application form and provide title and abstract in your message. Please let us know if you need to participate in the program in order to obtain funding from your home institution. Note that the number of student presentations is very limited.
